Real Madrid have been unsuccessful in their appeal against the Disciplinary Committee's decision, with the Royal Spanish Football Federation's Appeals Committee upholding Vinicius' four-match suspension for his sending-off against Villarreal. The club will now take the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
The Brazilian was sent off for pulling Nathan Saliba's hair during a move that ended with him scoring, although the goal was subsequently disallowed for the same infringement.
As a result of the suspension, Vinicius will miss Sunday's match against Sevilla, El Clásico against Barcelona at Camp Nou on October 25, and the subsequent league fixtures against Racing Santander on November 1 and Valencia at Mestalla on November 7.
Unless the appeal to CAS changes the outcome, Vinicius is not expected to return until after the November international break, when Real Madrid face Celta Vigo on the weekend of November 21 and 22.
