Vasilije Micic continues to dominate the EuroLeague transfer headlines following his decision to return to Europe—and Real Madrid has made a serious move to land the Serbian star. According to Serbian outlet Basket Sphere, and confirmed by MARCA, Los Blancos have tabled a strong offer for the guard.
The proposed deal is reportedly worth €8.5 million gross over two seasons, a clear indication of Madrid’s interest in securing one of Europe’s top playmakers. While reports from Serbia suggest an agreement is close, other sources maintain that things are not yet finalized.
However, the competition for Micic appears to be thinning. Olympiacos is still in the running, but Fenerbahce has withdrawn from the race, and Hapoel’s massive €18 million, three-year offer has already been turned down by the player himself.
At the moment, the race seems narrowed down to Real Madrid and Olympiacos. Despite already having a stacked backcourt featuring Campazzo, Feliz, Llull, and the newly signed Maledon, Madrid is considering bringing in Micic, whose dominance in two EuroLeague Final Fours makes him a game-changer, regardless of the depth chart.
