Real Madrid have reportedly made a final decision regarding the left-back position ahead of next season following the arrival of Marc Cucurella from Chelsea.

The signing of the Spanish international for €55 million has created fierce competition on the left side of the defense, with several players competing for two available spots in the squad. According to José Félix Díaz of AS, that position will be occupied by Álvaro Carreras. The decision marks a significant turnaround for the former Benfica defender, whose departure had appeared increasingly likely in recent weeks.

Real Madrid invested €50 million to sign Carreras less than a year ago, and José Mourinho has reportedly decided to keep faith in the young full-back. The Portuguese coach believes the player still has considerable potential and wants to give him the opportunity to develop as part of the first-team squad despite an inconsistent campaign.

The decision appears to have direct consequences for Fran García's future. The same report states that the Spanish full-back is expected to be among the players leaving the club this summer.
