Real Madrid has been named the Best Team of the Year at the prestigious Laureus World Sports Awards, in recognition of a historic and trophy-laden 2024. The award was presented by tennis legend and lifelong Madridista Rafa Nadal during a glittering ceremony held at the Cibeles Palace. Club president Florentino Pérez was also in attendance to celebrate the honor.
The Spanish giants triumphed over a strong list of nominees, including the McLaren Formula 1 team, the Spanish national football team, the Boston Celtics, the United States men’s basketball team, and FC Barcelona’s women’s side.
The Laureus winners are selected by an international panel of legendary athletes, adding to the significance of this global recognition.
Real Madrid’s 2024 was nothing short of spectacular. The club secured five major trophies: the UEFA Champions League, La Liga, the European Super Cup, the Spanish Super Cup, and the Intercontinental Cup — a feat they’ve only managed once before, back in 2017. It was a year to remember for Los Blancos, now officially honored as the best team in the world.
