All eyes are on Real Madrid as the Kylian Mbappé transfer saga will return in a few days. French journalist Frédéric Hermel spoke with RMC Sport ahead of the January transfer window about this hot topic.
It is said that Real Madrid have given the Frenchman 15 days to decide whether to accept their pre-contract offer; the question now is whether Real Madrid will hold firm with the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner.
Hermel offered his insights from the standpoint of the Spanish side, pointing out that the Paris Saint-Germain player's word with the La Liga team is worth very little considering his previous rejections.
"What happened a year and a half ago? Real Madrid still have it in its throat,” Hermel said. "Several told me that today, Mbappé’s words no longer have value. What I have been told in recent days is that it is up to Mbappé to make the effort. It is up to him to do the job if he wants to come.
"After what I felt, it was that between Haaland and Mbappé, it leaned more towards Haaland. They say that Haaland is younger; he suits the system better because there is already Vinicius, Rodrygo, and Bellingham."
Mbappé is expected to remain at PSG until the end of the 2023-24 season, regardless of what happens during the January transfer window. This is not surprising, given that the Ligue 1 team will still play in the UEFA Champions League round of 16.
