Real Madrid’s summer changes aren’t limited to the squad—major adjustments are also taking place behind the scenes. The club is carrying out a deep restructuring of its infrastructure, with the medical department seeing some of the most significant shifts.

After a season plagued by injuries, the club is determined to change course. One of the biggest moves is the departure of Itziar González, the team’s nutritionist, who will leave after just one season in Madrid. According to journalist Sergio Gómez, the decision was made following the Club World Cup, after it became clear that differences between González and the club could not be resolved.

Her approach reportedly never aligned with that of the medical team, and Felipe Segura, head of the department, is said to have made the call to part ways unilaterally. González had a year left on her contract and will receive the remaining salary.

The move hasn’t gone unnoticed in the dressing room. As reported by Sport, González had built strong bonds with players such as captain Dani Carvajal, whom she supported through several recoveries, and Rodrygo Goes, who also frequently relied on her expertise. Now, with changes sweeping through all levels of the club, it remains to be seen whether the shake-up will bring the desired results.
