Real Madrid once again fell short in terms of physical output in their Champions League quarter-final clash against Arsenal, continuing a worrying trend from this season’s campaign. At the Santiago Bernabéu, Los Blancos covered 107.5 kilometers — noticeably less than Arsenal’s 116 kilometers — marking another match where they were physically outpaced by their opponents.

The first leg saw even greater disparity: Mikel Arteta’s side ran 113.9 kilometers, a staggering 12.7 kilometers more than Real Madrid. While the gap narrowed slightly in the return leg, it remains a telling statistic in Madrid's elimination.

Throughout this season’s Champions League, Real Madrid have only once run more than their opponents — in the 3-2 win over Atalanta in Bergamo, where they covered 115.6 kilometers compared to Atalanta’s 114.9.

To make matters worse, Real Madrid set a new club record for most defeats in a single Champions League campaign, with six losses — to Lille, Milan, Liverpool, Atlético de Madrid, and both legs against Arsenal.

According to UEFA data, Ancelotti’s side once again recorded the lowest distance covered among all teams in the second leg of the quarter-finals, just as they did in the first leg. The only team to come close was Inter Milan, who ran 113.8 kilometers in their 2-2 draw with Bayern (117.8).

Elsewhere, Paris Saint-Germain covered 114.4 kilometers in their narrow escape against Aston Villa (119.6), while Borussia Dortmund led the round with an impressive 123.4 kilometers in their 3-1 win over Barcelona, who ran 117.1 kilometers — though the Catalans advanced due to their 4-0 victory in the first leg.
