Real Madrid are without any doubt one of Spain's two top academies alongside Barcelona's La Masia, although Los Blancos seem to see far fewer of their players from La Fabrica reach to the first team.
Real Madrid Castilla, led by Raul Gonzalez, is a point behind Cordoba at the top of their division and has a promising young squad. Sergio Arribas in particular has impressed, while Carlos Dotor, Alvaro Rodriguez, and Rafa Marin are all thought to have a chance to succeed in La Liga.
However the same was said for Antonio Blanco and Juanmi Latasa when they came through. The midfielder is likely to leave Cadiz after just 159 minutes of play with the Yellow Subamarine on loan, while Latasa’s loan to Getafe has seen just 57 minutes of action.
Los Blancos have therefore decided to stop arranging loan deals for their young players. The situations involving Blanco and Latasa are just the most recent in a series of failures for Real Madrid.
They will instead pursue a strategy of sales with buyback clauses. The most well-known example of this is Dani Carvajal, who spent a season with Bayer Leverkusen before coming back to occupy the right-back position.
Real Madrid plan to adopt this as their official policy moving forward.
