Real Madrid has the opportunity to further cement their legendary status. Pablo Laso's team made it to the European Cup final after defeating Barcelona in the Final Four semi-finals, just like Carlo Ancelotti's team did. This is the fifth time in club history that both the football and basketball teams have advanced to the finals in the same season, which no other club has ever done.
The first time this happened was in the 1961/62, when the football team faced Benfica and the basketball side played Dinamo Tbilisi. Two years later, Madrid repeated this feat – taking on Inter Milan in football and Spartak Brno in basketball, resulting in the latter’s first of ten European Cups.
In the 2013/14 campaign, the Whites clinched the Décima in Lisbon, while the other team reached the final of the EuroLeague against Maccabi. Four years later in 2018, the madridistas were crowned European champions after beating Liverpool in Kiev and Fenerbahçe in Belgrade.
