Gabriel Deck has officially obtained Spanish citizenship, meaning he will no longer occupy a non-EU roster spot for Real Madrid in Liga Endesa, according to MARCA.
The process was completed on July 28 after the Argentine forward fulfilled the residency requirements in Spain. Deck had already passed the necessary examinations and was simply waiting for the remaining administrative procedures to be finalized.
His new status is a significant boost for Real Madrid, as Liga Endesa regulations allow clubs to register only two non-EU players. Last season, the restriction forced the club to make difficult roster decisions when three non-EU players were available.
With Deck now counting as a domestic player, Real Madrid gain greater flexibility as they continue shaping Pedro Martínez's squad for the new season and could now have room to sign another non-EU player if needed.
The 31-year-old forward remains under contract with the club for the next two seasons and is expected to continue playing an important role in Madrid's plans.
