The summer transfer window will open early this year on June 1st, an exceptional measure due to the scheduling of the Club World Cup. Real Madrid is taking full advantage of this opportunity to accelerate its transfer strategy. Following the signing of Dean Huijsen, the club is finalizing the arrivals of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Álvaro Carreras, though the latter’s deal has proven more complex than initially expected.

But does this mean Real Madrid is done with early summer business? Not quite. While the club is not expected to secure any major midfield signing before the window briefly closes again on June 10th, their activity is far from over.

Among the emerging talents under serious consideration is Hugo Larsson, a rising star at Eintracht Frankfurt. The 20-year-old Swedish midfielder (turning 21 next month) has become one of the standout performers in the Bundesliga this season, catching the eye of Madrid scouts who have attended several of Frankfurt’s matches.

Larsson joined the German side in the summer of 2023, but it’s in his second campaign that he has truly blossomed. A Malmö native, he debuted in the Swedish top division at just 17 years and 7 months, eventually earning the Best Young Player award in the Allsvenskan. Though recent muscle injuries have kept him out of Sweden’s national team, his potential remains unquestioned.

In the current season, he has made 33 Bundesliga appearances and scored three goals. Including the Europa League and German Cup, his total stands at 47 games and six goals — impressive for a central midfielder.

According to Transfermarkt, his current market value is €40 million, roughly four times what Eintracht Frankfurt paid Malmö for his services. In fact, German media linked Real Madrid to Larsson’s name as early as December 2023.

Real Madrid has been paying close attention to the Bundesliga, a league that has historically delivered great results for Los Blancos — Toni Kroos, and Jude Bellingham being prime examples (with Jovic being the exception). The arrival of Xabi Alonso, after a stellar tenure at Bayer Leverkusen, is expected to further solidify Madrid’s scouting ties with the German league.
