Real Madrid completed the Champions League group stage with a perfect 100% record, winning all six matches against Napoli, Braga and Union Berlin. This not only secured first place but also a substantial financial reward for them.
Real Madrid's super performance means that they will receive €42 million in Champions League prize money, and they are almost halfway to the maximum €85 million bonus from winning the competition. According to Relevo, Carlo Ancelotti's team will receive €2.8 million for each victory, for a total of €16.8 million, plus €15.6 million simply for qualifying for the Champions and €9.6 million for making to the knockout stages.
Los Blancos have tied Bayern as the only team to ever finish the group stages with a 100% record on three occasions. It is a historic record, considering that the Champions League is switching to a league system starting next season.
