Real Madrid's transfer strategy this summer has followed a clear pattern. While several academy graduates have left the club, nearly every deal includes clauses that allow the club to retain significant control over their future and potentially bring them back to Valdebebas.

Preserving long-term control over the talent developed at La Fábrica remains a key objective for Real Madrid, reflecting the club's confidence in one of the world's most productive youth academies.

The latest examples are Gonzalo García and César Palacios, whose departures were officially confirmed by the club. Both players progressed through the academy, Castilla, and into the first-team setup before completing their moves to Fulham.

Gonzalo's transfer represents the most lucrative academy sale in Real Madrid's history. The club received €40 million for 70% of his economic rights, while retaining the remaining 30%. This structure allows Madrid to benefit from any future sale or to match another club's offer by purchasing only the percentage they no longer own.

A similar formula was used for César Palacios. The midfielder joined Fulham in a deal worth €8 million, with Real Madrid selling 50% of his rights while maintaining the other half. This gives the Spanish giants considerable leverage should they decide to bring him back in the future.

According to Mario Cortegana, both transfers also include buy-back clauses. The journalist reports that these clauses become active from the players' second season at Fulham, meaning Real Madrid will have the option to re-sign both Gonzalo and Palacios from the 2027/28 campaign onwards. However, the exact duration of those buy-back options has not yet been disclosed.
