Chema Andrés is set to join Stuttgart, with the deal between the German club and Real Madrid now fully finalized. The highly regarded midfielder from Madrid’s academy will move for €6 million, and the Spanish giants have secured a buy-back option, highlighting their long-term faith in the player.
The move is part of a strategic plan: allowing Chema to fulfill his mandatory military service away from Valdebebas while gaining crucial first-team experience abroad. Real Madrid sees this as a temporary departure with the clear aim of bringing him back once he matures at the highest level.
Chema has been on Xabi Alonso’s radar, and the coach believes the youngster has the potential to thrive in a top-tier side. For that to happen, regular minutes in a competitive environment are key — and Stuttgart, who will be playing in next season’s Europa League as the reigning DFB-Pokal champions, fits that bill. The German club is also pushing to finish among the Bundesliga’s elite after a strong ninth-place finish last campaign.
Although Chema had offers from several LaLiga clubs, those were limited to loan deals, which didn't suit Madrid’s long-term plan. A permanent move to Germany, with the possibility of a future return, was a more appealing pathway for both the player and the club.
Real Madrid sees the Bundesliga as a strong developmental league, pointing to Dani Carvajal’s successful stint at Bayer Leverkusen in 2012–13 as the blueprint. Chema hopes to follow a similar path — gaining experience abroad before returning to compete for a first-team spot at the Bernabéu.
