Real Madrid send strength and affection to former goalkeeper Miguel Angel

Miguel Angel González Suárez, who played for Real Madrid from 1968 to 1986, has revealed that he has been diagnosed with ALS.

He played 346 games for Real Madrid during his eighteen years at the Santiago Bernabeu. He is considered as the club's legendary goalkeeper, having won eight league titles, five Copa del Reys, two UEFA Cups, and one League Cup. Additionally, he appeared in 18 games for Spain's national team.

Miguel Angel informed EFE that he had the incurable disease, which affects the body’s central nervous system. He has expressed his support the global movement that fights to find the cure or stop the degenerative process in the body, through research.

Real Madrid sent their best wishes to their former goalkeeper in a statement that was published on their official website and shared on social media.

"Real Madrid C. F. would like to transmit all of its strength and affection to Miguel Ángel, one of the great goalkeepers in our history.
 
We are by his and his family's side in his fight against ALS, joining him in the strength and spirit of overcoming which he has demonstrated always."
