Petr Cornelie (26/07/1995; Calais, France) has signed for Real Madrid ahead of the new season. He will be playing for Los Blancos for the season 2022-23. The 27-year-old 6′11″ power forward excels at rebounding, is a good three-point shooter and is versatile. The French international arrives from the Grand Rapids Gold in the G-League (the NBA's associate league for player development), where he averaged 17.8 points last term and was the competition's leader in rebounds with 12.8 per game.
The season prior, Cornelie averaged 2.2 three-pointers per game with a 36.7 percent shooting efficiency for the Denver Nuggets affiliate team. Le Mans, where the new Real Madrid player made his professional debut and was named the league's Best Young Player in 2014–15, was where he rose through the youth ranks.
Regular member of the French national youth team, Cornelie helped the senior team win the silver medal at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
