As reported by Libertad Digital, Real Madrid further points out the striking similarity between Freixa’s statements and Negreira’s own declarations to the Tax Inspectorate, suggesting that the payments were explicitly designed to sway referee treatment in favor of FC Barcelona.
Freixa, who has held multiple roles within FC Barcelona’s board over the years, is closely linked to the leadership under which these payments occurred. Real Madrid highlights his involvement from 2003 to 2014 and his candidacies for club presidency in 2015 and 2021.
Though Freixa has attempted to publicly downplay the significance of his statements, Real Madrid dismisses his denials, considering them an indirect acknowledgment of the gravity of his comments. The club emphasizes that Freixa’s recent rebuttal, filled with "unfortunate accusations and threats," only strengthens the weight of his original remarks.
