Real Madrid remains resolute in its pursuit of the truth in the Negreira case. As an active party in the investigation, the club continues to take significant steps, most recently in response to Toni Freixa’s comments acknowledging payments to former referee Enríquez Negreira.

In a four-page document submitted to the First Court of Instruction in Barcelona, Real Madrid asserts that Freixa’s statements, "delivered with such spontaneity and ease, suggest a certain sense of impunity, despite the ongoing legal proceedings." The club contends that these remarks provide compelling evidence that:

1. The multi-million euro payments made by FC Barcelona to companies associated with Negreira were intended to influence referee decisions.
2. The payments were authorized by FC Barcelona presidents.
3. Negreira guaranteed the effectiveness of the illicit services.

As reported by Libertad Digital, Real Madrid further points out the striking similarity between Freixa’s statements and Negreira’s own declarations to the Tax Inspectorate, suggesting that the payments were explicitly designed to sway referee treatment in favor of FC Barcelona.

Freixa, who has held multiple roles within FC Barcelona’s board over the years, is closely linked to the leadership under which these payments occurred. Real Madrid highlights his involvement from 2003 to 2014 and his candidacies for club presidency in 2015 and 2021.

Though Freixa has attempted to publicly downplay the significance of his statements, Real Madrid dismisses his denials, considering them an indirect acknowledgment of the gravity of his comments. The club emphasizes that Freixa’s recent rebuttal, filled with "unfortunate accusations and threats," only strengthens the weight of his original remarks.
