Late last night, news broke that Real Madrid is actively pursuing the acquisition of French basketball player Isaia Cordinier, currently playing for Virtus Bologna. According to reports from Simone Motola, later corroborated by Superbasket, Real Madrid has made an offer of €500,000 to secure Cordinier's release from his contract, which runs until June 30, 2025.
Cordinier has been a key player for Virtus this season, averaging 10.3 points in the Italian LBA and an impressive 14.1 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 3.9 assists in the EuroLeague. If the deal moves forward, Virtus Bologna may seek a young replacement, with Real Madrid’s Hugo Gonzalez rumored to be a potential target.
While further confirmation from Spanish sources is still awaited, this development comes as Virtus prepares to face Maccabi Tel Aviv tonight in the EuroLeague's eighth round.
