A date has been set for Real Madrid to review the VAR audio related to the controversial incident between Romero and Kylian Mbappé. This moment was a key factor that prompted the club to send a formal complaint to both the Federation and the Higher Sports Council, as Madrid's leadership believes there have been ongoing issues with refereeing decisions.
The Spanish Football Federation, through its Technical Committee of Referees (CTA), has arranged for a Real Madrid delegation to visit next Monday. During the meeting, the club will be able to hear the conversations between the on-field referee, Muñiz Ruiz, and the VAR official, Iglesias Villanueva. The goal is to clarify the details of the incident and address any doubts.
Real Madrid requested access to the audio earlier this week, and the Federation has agreed to allow the club to review it at the CTA headquarters. This effort is part of the Federation’s intention to maintain open communication with Real Madrid, aiming for a more cooperative relationship and not just during controversial situations like this.
Several other teams have already visited the Federation to listen to VAR audio from their matches, and Real Madrid's turn will come on Monday. Although the CTA has consistently allowed clubs to review VAR audio since its introduction, they have maintained a policy of not distributing the recordings externally.
