Real Madrid has claimed another symbolic title—this time, without a trophy. The club now sits at the top of the UEFA rankings with 143.5 points, surpassing elite clubs such as Manchester City (2nd), Bayern Munich (3rd), Liverpool (4th), and PSG (5th). Notably, Madrid is the only Spanish club in the top five, with Barcelona moving up two spots to 10th and Atlético de Madrid holding steady in 14th.

These rankings, updated in June 2025, are based on performances over the last five seasons (2020/21 through 2024/25). Last year’s standings included the less successful 2019/20 season, during which Madrid earned just 17 points, dropping them to third place behind City and Bayern.

This year, Real Madrid's total is built from consistent high performances: 26 points in 2020/21, 30 points in 2021/22, 29 points in 2022/23, 34 points in 2023/24 and 24.5 points in 2024/25.

With such strong showings in recent years, Madrid looks set to remain at the summit for at least another two seasons.

Barcelona, meanwhile, continues to suffer the effects of poor European campaigns in 2021/22 (15 points) and 2022/23 (only 9 points). These results will weigh on their coefficient until the 2027/28 update, limiting any major leap in the short term.
