The second leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final between Real Madrid and Real Sociedad was not without controversy, as Kylian Mbappé's offside position in the buildup to Aurélien Tchouaméni’s goal sparked frustration among the visitors.

Real Sociedad coach Imanol Alguacil expressed his discontent in the post-match press conference:

"There was a possible offside—situations like this are usually given. But they didn’t call it, so there’s nothing more to say. I have no doubt that if the same thing had happened in our box, the goal wouldn’t have stood. We’ve been knocked out of the Copa, just like in the Europa League, with certain ‘help’ in an area where all we ask for is fairness. Real Madrid don’t need these kinds of help—they’re a great club and have always shown it throughout history. We leave feeling hurt."

Real Madrid TV quickly dismissed Alguacil’s complaints. Commentator Miguel Ángel Muñoz responded: "If Imanol Alguacil didn’t notice, I suggest he watch the tackle on Vinícius—it was only a yellow when it should’ve been a straight red. And if he missed it again, his goalkeeper Remiro slapped Bellingham in the face. That should have been a red card and a penalty."

Muñoz continued his criticism of Alguacil’s remarks: "Maybe from where he was standing, he just didn’t see it. Every time he faces Barcelona, he accepts every decision against his team as if it’s normal. But when he plays Madrid, suddenly he starts seeing conspiracies. Maybe he just enjoys losing against Barcelona."

Jesús Alcaide added: "Even with the referees helping them, Real Sociedad have still been eliminated."
