Real Madrid will discover their first eight opponents in the 2025/26 Champions League tomorrow, when the draw takes place in Monaco at 6:00 PM (live on Real Madrid TV).

In this phase, the rules stipulate that our club cannot face other Spanish sides, nor can they be drawn against more than two teams from the same country.

The 36 participating clubs are divided into four pots according to UEFA’s coefficient rankings. Each team will face two opponents from every pot—one at home and one away. A computer program will determine the matchups and home/away designations. The full schedule, including dates and kick-off times, will be released on Saturday, August 30.

This new league format sees all 36 teams ranked together. The top eight teams qualify directly for the round of 16. Teams finishing 9th to 24th will compete in a two-legged playoff to secure their place, while those placed 25th and below are eliminated with no Europa League fallback. From the round of 16 onward, the competition follows the traditional knockout format, culminating in the final on May 30, 2026, at the Puskás Aréna in Budapest, Hungary.

Qualified teams so far:

  • Spain: Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atlético de Madrid, Athletic Club, Villarreal

  • England: Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea, Newcastle, Tottenham

  • Germany: Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen, Eintracht Frankfurt, Borussia Dortmund

  • Italy: Napoli, Inter, Atalanta, Juventus

  • France: Paris Saint-Germain, Olympique de Marseille, Monaco

  • Netherlands: PSV Eindhoven, Ajax

Four additional clubs will qualify from the playoff ties: Ferencváros–Qarabag, Rangers–Bruges, Basel–Copenhagen, and Fenerbahçe–Benfica.
