Real Madrid youth players Diego, Lorenzo Aguado, and Chema expressed their joy on Monday, describing their debut with the first team in the Copa del Rey victory over Deportiva Minera (0-5) as "a dream come true."
Beaming with excitement, the trio from Madrid’s youth academy shared their immense happiness at achieving this milestone. Diego Aguado, the youngest at 17, admitted that he found it difficult to sleep the night before the match, as his mind was filled with thoughts of how he would perform.
"You're nervous, thinking about all the plays you'll make... but once you're on the pitch, the nerves fade," said the center-back. He thanked his coaches, especially Arbeloa, for helping him reach this point.
On this special occasion, all three players revealed they plan to frame their debut shirts to commemorate the moment, except for Chema, who will gift his shirt to his grandfather, a long-time collector of his jerseys.
"This number will stay with me forever. I'm going to give it to my grandfather, who has collected all my shirts since I started playing," said the 19-year-old Juvenil A midfielder.
Lorenzo, 22, who plays for Real Madrid Castilla, praised the Real Madrid youth academy as "the best in the world" and thanked the coaches and trainers for their support.
"When you first join, the first team seems so far away, but with the guidance and help from all the coaches, it becomes a lot more achievable," concluded Chema, also from Castilla.
