Reinier Jesús is facing perhaps the lowest point of his career since signing with Real Madrid. Following his fifth loan spell, the Brazilian midfielder is back at the club, but with no clear place in either the first team or Castilla under Álvaro Arbeloa, his future looks bleak. He hasn’t played a single minute for the senior squad since his high-profile arrival in January 2020, and now, the message from the club is clear: he must find a new destination this summer—or risk seeing his contract terminated.
Once considered a rising star when he was signed from Flamengo for €30 million shortly after turning 18, Reinier has struggled to live up to expectations. He hasn’t even been included in Castilla’s preseason training camp in Marbella, a move that all but confirms he’s no longer part of Real Madrid’s plans, either for development or professional contribution.
His European journey has been underwhelming. Between loan spells at Borussia Dortmund, Girona, Frosinone, and Granada, Reinier has featured in 105 matches, accumulating fewer than 4,000 minutes and scoring just seven goals. Far from the promise he once showed, his current market value has plummeted to €1.5 million, the lowest point of his professional career.
At the moment, there are no solid offers on the table. He is effectively sidelined from both the senior and reserve teams, and the club is even considering a full contract termination before it expires at season’s end if no solution is found.
