A new controversy has emerged in Spanish football following reports of an alleged financial link between Barcelona president Joan Laporta and La Liga president Javier Tebas. According to La Galerna, documents suggest that Laporta granted a loan worth €4,485,000 to the entity Audiovisual New Aged AIE, which is involved in managing agreements related to the distribution of audiovisual rights revenue among clubs.

The report references entries dated June 30, 2025 and June 30, 2024, indicating that this financial relationship has appeared in Barcelona’s records since the 2020/21 season. The same source suggests that this situation may have contributed to favorable treatment toward the club in recent years.

Examples highlighted include Barcelona’s ability to register players despite financial difficulties, as well as specific cases such as Dani Olmo, where La Liga reportedly facilitated his registration process.

The report also places the situation within the broader context of the Negreira case, noting that Real Madrid have been among the few clubs actively pushing for clarity, while others have remained largely silent. It further claims that, beyond previous payments linked to refereeing officials, additional financial dealings involving the league’s leadership raise new concerns about transparency and competitive balance in Spanish football.
