At just 18 years old, the Argentine leaves his nation’s most decorated club to join Spain’s most successful side, reintroducing the Argentine accent to the Bernabéu for the first time since Ángel Di María’s departure.

The deep-rooted connection between the two clubs was highlighted by Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez during the ceremony: "I want to give special mention to River Plate, a club with a historic connection to Real Madrid. We feel admiration and pride. Today, you join the prestigious list of Argentine footballers who have worn the white shirt of the 15 European Cups. Thank you for wanting to be here with us."
