Roberto Carlos, former Real Madrid and Brazil international, confirmed on the afternoon of December 31 that he underwent a preventive heart procedure. The club legend clarified that he did not suffer a heart attack and stated that he is recovering well in a hospital in São Paulo, easing concerns among Real Madrid supporters after reports earlier in the day caused alarm.
“I underwent a preventive medical procedure that had been planned in advance with my medical team. The procedure was successful and I am fine. I did not have a heart attack,” the former left-back explained in a message shared in both English and Portuguese on social media.
The 52-year-old said he feels confident, is recovering positively, and is eager to regain full fitness so he can return to his professional and personal commitments in the near future.
“I sincerely appreciate all the messages of support, affection, and concern. I want to reassure everyone that there is no reason for alarm. Many thanks to the entire medical team who took care of me,” he added, alongside a photo of himself resting in a hospital bed.
