The set-piece responsibilities will be one of the main changes for Real Madrid going into the 2023–24 season. That duty has been dominated by Kroos, Modric, and Asensio during the past few seasons. However, Asensio is no longer a member of the team, and the veteran midfielders will not take center stage in the upcoming campaign.
Next season, Rodrygo is expected to be the main free-kick taker at Real Madrid. The youngster has demonstrated in several occasions that he has the technique needed to do so. Actually, Rodrygo scored his first ever goal for Real Madrid with a free-kick in a friendly match against Bayern Munich.
The Brazilian will have more chances to prove his value in set-pieces now that he is in charge entirely. Also, it confirms his presence as a regular starter from August.
And regarding the penalty kicks, now with Karim Benzema's departure, Rodrygo along with Modric is the main candidate to take that responsibility too.
