Ronaldo Nazário, former Real Madrid striker and current president of Real Valladolid, has revealed why Carlo Ancelotti never took charge of the Brazilian national team. Speaking on the 'Charla Podcast,' the Brazilian legend confirmed that negotiations between Ancelotti and the Brazil Football Federation were real and that he was personally involved in the discussions.
"I'm the coach of Real Madrid and I'm staying here," Ancelotti declared in September 2023 when rumors about him potentially leading Brazil surfaced.
Ronaldo clarified that the talks weren’t just speculation: "It wasn't a fantasy because I helped in the process by speaking with Carlo." However, the move never materialized because, as Ronaldo put it, "Ancelotti wasn’t released. Real Madrid didn’t let him go."
He further explained that Ancelotti’s future hinged on Madrid’s success: "If he hadn't won anything, Real Madrid would have sacked him, and Ancelotti would have come to Brazil. But he won the Champions League and stayed for another year."
