Rudy Fernández continues to shatter records with the Spanish national team. After winning the Pre-Olympic final against the Bahamas, the Real Madrid star is set to close a legendary and brilliant career by becoming the first player in the history of men's basketball to play in six Olympic Games in Paris. Rudy has participated in the 2004, 2008, 2012, 2016, and 2020 editions, winning two silver medals (Beijing and London) and one bronze medal (Rio de Janeiro).

In the game against the Bahamas, Rudy played his 261st game with the Spanish national team, the most in history, having debuted in 2004. Besides his Olympic medals, he has won two World Cups, four Eurobaskets, and additional silver and bronze medals in the Eurobasket. After securing qualification with Spain, Rudy expressed his joy for the achievement: "It is incredible the feeling of being able to experience another Olympics, the work has its reward. We believed, we knew how to compete, we were very aggressive. Thank you to the people of Valencia who have supported us today to be able to qualify for another Olympics."
