After participating in the honorary kick-off before the Real Madrid-Sevilla match last February, Ilia Topuria, the UFC Featherweight world champion, announced his ambitious goal of bringing the UFC to Spain. He specifically aims to hold the event at the iconic Santiago Bernabéu stadium, potentially in the first months of 2025. "In the first quarter of next year, we will surely hold the UFC in Spain, and it will be at the Santiago Bernabéu. When I have been there, I have not stopped meditating and visualizing the moment when I would make my way to the octagon in such a legendary stadium," said the Hispanic-Georgian fighter.

This possibility has gained traction following the draw for the 2024-25 LaLiga calendar. According to the newspaper Sport, Saturday, February 15, 2025, is the most likely date for the UFC event in the Spanish capital, as Real Madrid will be visiting Osasuna in Pamplona that weekend. However, Eurosport reports that four other dates are also being considered when the Santiago Bernabéu will be available to host a UFC event for the first time in history: Saturdays, January 25, February 1, March 1, and March 15.
