The Real Madrid stadium will be closed for the duration of the following three months in order to finish the fantastic work that started in 2019 and is nearing completion. The new Santiago Bernabéu will be nearly finished in September, although the completion dates are uncertain, with December 2023 being the most likely date.

The coming months without competition are crucial for achieving the goal. And one just needs to look at the construction's current stage to notice how quickly it has advanced in the 12 days since the LaLiga season ended on June 4! It is inconceivable that the stadium has been completely dismantled again in less than two weeks.

More than 700 workers are currently employed daily across more than 100 distinct action lines. There is no downtime, neither inside the stadium nor outside of it.

The retractable grass system is still being tested within the stadium. The six planks that carry the pitch are already moving along the rails that are visible when the pitch is underground, entering and exiting the greenhouse cave. Finding the secret to maintaining the green's perfect appearance all year long is the most crucial task that needs to be completed now that the system is functioning. The cutting-edge greenhouse in the hypogeum is anticipated to solve the issues.

To install the new, permanent chairs, every seat is likewise being taken out. When fans return in September, they will notice a significant change because the color of the seats will change after more than 30 years. Compared to the ones they now have, they will be navy blue and significantly darker. Aisles will also shift from orange to gray in tone. Reconstruction of the stands on the south end has also begun.

The installation of the brand-new 360-degree video scoreboard is currently in progress. The LED that will go around the entire ring of the first amphitheater is also taking shape, with around 60% of it currently installed.

The galleries, several VIP sections, and the restaurant area, however, still require a lot of work.

More of the same out there in the street. Trenches make it impossible to walk through without jumping over. The steel skin envelope is virtually complete, but work still needs to be done on the roof, the lower half, and the portion covering the skywalk, which can only be seen from above.

The Plaza de los Sagrados Corazones, which will house a sizable pedestrian space and replace the former Bernabéu Corner, is another area where construction is picking up speed. Yet, there is still a lot of work to be done. But buses have already entered this area too.
