Real Madrid and Serge Ibaka have reached a preliminary agreement for the center to join the white club, according to various sources. Pending final details, the Spanish-Congolese player will sign for one season and will replace Poirier, who is departing for Efes.

The center, who turns 35 next September, is currently concluding his stint at Bayern Munich, where he arrived last summer after a long 14-season career in the NBA. Ibaka enjoyed particularly successful years with the Oklahoma City Thunder and was part of the historic Toronto Raptors team that won the championship in 2019.

Additionally, it should be noted that Ibaka already played for Real Madrid for a few months during the 2011-12 campaign, when the NBA lockout prompted many players to seek teams in Europe to avoid being unemployed. This season at Bayern, he has averaged 12.6 points and 6.8 rebounds in the Euroleague, with an impressive 48 percent on three-pointers, playing an average of 24 minutes in 28 of the 34 games the German team participated in.
