Sergio Rodríguez, who celebrated his 38th birthday on June 12 by winning the League with Real Madrid, has announced his retirement, bringing an end to a dream career. Known for his impossible assists, elegant ball-handling, three-point shots, iconic beard, and eternal smile, Rodríguez leaves behind a legacy in basketball.

"Twenty years have passed since this story began. Twenty years is a long time. It is difficult to summarize what I feel now that this stage of my life is ending. In reality, it is not that difficult; it only takes one word: thank you," he wrote in a heartfelt farewell letter.

For 21 seasons, since debuting with Estudiantes in 2003 at just 17 years old, Rodríguez has been a maestro on courts around the world with teams such as Real Madrid, CSKA Moscow, and Olimpia Milan in Europe, and the Blazers, Kings, Knicks, and Sixers in the NBA. And, of course, he has been a key player for the Spanish national team.
