Real Madrid's basketball team is expected to undergo major changes this summer following a disappointing season that fell short of expectations.

Despite reaching the finals of the Copa del Rey and the EuroLeague, the team failed to win either competition and also endured an early exit from the Liga Endesa playoffs after being eliminated in the first round.

The disappointing campaign has already led to changes in the club's sporting structure, with Juan Carlos Sánchez returning and Sergio Rodríguez departing. Attention has now turned to head coach Sergio Scariolo, whose future is reportedly in serious doubt.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Dimitris Itoudis has emerged as the leading candidate to replace Scariolo. The Greek coach has been in charge of Hapoel Tel Aviv since 2024 and is said to be the favorite for the role.

Meanwhile, Encestando reports that Paco Redondo is also under consideration. The Spanish coach previously worked as an assistant to Pablo Laso and Chus Mateo and reportedly has a strong relationship with Juan Carlos Sánchez.

Although Scariolo still has two years remaining on his contract, the report suggests his future on the Real Madrid bench is hanging by a thread. Should the club decide to dismiss him, they would be required to pay compensation.
