Kylian Mbappé suffered a significant injury during the match between Real Madrid and Girona, requiring three stitches above his right eyebrow after a heavy elbow from Vitor Reis.
The incident, which occurred in the final minutes at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, has become one of the main talking points of the match. Despite the severity of the blow—clearly visible with a deep cut and bleeding—neither referee Javier Alberola Rojas nor VAR official Daniel Jesús Trujillo awarded a penalty.
The images of Mbappé with the wound have only intensified the controversy, as the injury highlights the force of the contact in the box. Notably, the moment of bleeding was not shown during the official La Liga broadcast, despite the referee being close to the action.
