The future of football seems to rest in the hands of Florentino Pérez. Much like Santiago Bernabéu revolutionized the sport with the creation of the European Cup in the 1950s, the current Real Madrid president is aiming to reshape the game with the Super League. Recent years have shown that both FIFA and UEFA hold a tight monopoly over football, not only in Europe but globally as well.

Bernd Reichart, CEO of A22, commented on this issue, saying, "The recent rulings by the CJEU (Court of Justice of the European Union) have revealed that international associations must ensure their activities and regulations comply with EU law, rather than hinder it. The foundations of their monopoly are beginning to crumble."

In an interview with Kicker, Reichart emphasized a significant step forward for the Super League: "From the beginning, we have focused on dialogue. Stakeholders now have the opportunity to take part and be responsible for a new, more modern football system. We believe that clubs and players should primarily decide on key governance matters."

Reichart also noted that the fear of backlash has diminished, and more clubs are willing to voice their opinions about the Super League. He didn’t shy away from criticizing UEFA’s revamped Champions League format, questioning its effectiveness: "Has UEFA achieved its goals of making the group stage more exciting and meaningful? I don’t think so. In my view, there are more matches without any real consequence."
