Real Madrid has established a winning momentum that Barcelona is struggling to match, with the gap between the two clubs widening each year. This analysis focuses on titles and match results, excluding other factors like institutional growth, financial strength, or sports planning, where the difference has become even more pronounced.

Following Real Madrid's recent European Super Cup victory, the tally over the last five seasons stands at 12 titles for Los Blancos compared to just three for Barcelona. During this period, Barcelona has endured three trophyless seasons (2019-20, 2021-22, and 2023-24), while Madrid had only one (2020-21). Furthermore, Barcelona has secured only one of the two primary objectives each season—La Liga or the Champions League—winning a single La Liga title against Madrid’s three, along with two Champions League titles since 2019-20.

The gap between Real Madrid and Barcelona is widening at an unstoppable rate, with Madrid’s average of three titles per season over the last three years creating an insurmountable lead. The title count, which once favored Madrid 25-17 over the last 11 seasons, now stands at a staggering 12-3 in the last five years, highlighting the dominance of Los Blancos.

In Europe, the disparity is even more evident. Madrid not only claimed two Champions League titles but also consistently reached four semi-finals since 2019-20. Their continental journey has included a Round of 16, semi-finals, two championships, and another semi-final appearance. In stark contrast, Barcelona’s European performance has faltered, with quarter-finals, Round of 16, group stage exits, and another quarter-final appearance in the same period.

Real Madrid's triumph over Atalanta also makes them the team with the most European Super Cup victories, boasting six titles, surpassing Barcelona and AC Milan, who each have five. Liverpool follows with four, and Atlético de Madrid with three.

The growing gap is also reflected in their head-to-head clashes, with Real Madrid dominating the 15 Clásicos played in the last five seasons across all competitions, securing 10 wins, one draw, and only four defeats.

With the recent addition of Kylian Mbappé to strengthen Madrid’s sporting project and the team aiming for seven titles this season, the gap could widen even further. At present, Barcelona finds themselves trailing far behind Real Madrid.
