The first phase of the Champions League has proven to be financially rewarding for Real Madrid, ranking as the 11th club to generate the most revenue during this stage of the competition. According to data from the Football Meets Data portal, Real Madrid has amassed €78.33 million so far, which is €11.08 million less than Barcelona and €6.59 million less than Atlético Madrid.
This sum comes from several sources. Firstly, every team participating in this stage of the Champions League receives €18.62 million. Additionally, Real Madrid has received €27.12 million from the market pool, which is the distribution of television rights for the competition, and another €12.45 million for being the leader in the UEFA rankings.
From a sporting perspective, the team earned an extra €1 million for qualifying for the playoff, where they will face Manchester City for a spot in the round of 16. By finishing in 11th place at the end of this first phase, Real Madrid earned €8.64 million. Additionally, their five victories in this stage brought in another €10.5 million (€2.1 million per win). This substantial financial boost could grow even further, as there are additional prizes for advancing in the tournament: +€11 million for reaching the round of 16, +€12.5 million for the quarter-finals, +€15 million for the semi-finals, +€18.5 million for being a finalist, and +€6.5 million for winning the Champions League. Moreover, they could earn another €4 million for competing in the European Super Cup, plus €2.1 million per win.
