Jude Bellingham went from being a promising young football player to one of the most significant players in the world since his arrival at Real Madrid.
Last season, he almost alone kept Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga title chase. This season, he has scored 16 goals in 18 games for Real Madrid, and each of those goals was followed by his trademark celebration with arms spread wide.
It all started when Jude was a player for Birmingham City. The 16-year-old Englishman climbed through the ranks at the Birmingham academy to join the senior team in 2019.
Jude made his league debut on August 31, 2019, when he scored his first goal for Birmingham against Stoke City. In the next game, Jude returned to the starting lineup and scored the game-winning goal against Charlton.
The teenager celebrated by raising his arms as he went towards the stand occupied by Birmingham supporters.
"The truth is I'm not exactly sure where this idea came from. I started it in Birmingham, and then I've been doing it ever since, but I'm not doing it for any particular reason," Jude explained when he was already a Real Madrid player. "I'm proud that the children are following my example," he added.
Bellingham continued to celebrate in Dortmund in this manner:
And now he does the same at Real Madrid:
Of course, Bellingham is not the first football player to celebrate a goal in this manner. However these days, the majority of fans are aware that it is "Bellingham's celebration," and other players are gladly copying it.
