With Kylian Mbappé's latest injury in Bergamo, Real Madrid have now tallied 27 injuries in just 23 games this season. The situation is alarming, especially when considering David Alaba, who started the season with a lingering knee issue from last year, as well as youth players Palacios and Joan Martínez, who were injured during the U.S. tour before the season kicked off.
At this pace, Real Madrid is on track to surpass the 48 injuries they recorded last season, having already had 19 injuries by this time last year. This season, very few players have escaped the injury crisis that’s hitting the Santiago Bernabéu.
Remarkably, only seven players have stayed injury-free in the opening months of the campaign: Fran García, Antonio Rüdiger, Fede Valverde, Luka Modric, Arda Güler, Endrick, and Andriy Lunin (who missed time due to gastroenteritis but has not been injured). The other 15 squad members have all had at least one injury, collectively missing 94 games. It’s a true injury epidemic.
