Only Real Madrid fans from the 1960s will remember their team winning eight of their first eight games of the season.

The club has only twice bettered the current run, both times occurring in the long-ago 1960s.

It was accomplished by Alfredo Di Stefano's team in 1961/62, and seven years later, Real Madrid repeated the feat to start the 1968/69 campaign by winning their first 11 games.

Eight victories have now been achieved by Carlo Ancelotti's team, including the UEFA Super Cup final, five LaLiga games, and victories over Celtic and Leipzig in the Champions League.

Ancelotti has already surpassed Manuel Pellegrini's team, who won their first seven games in 2009/10. Zinedine Zidane, meanwhile, set a record of six wins at the start of 2016/17.
