Real Madrid had initially planned to sign Alphonso Davies this summer on a free transfer, capitalizing on the expiration of his contract with Bayern Munich. However, this strategy fell apart when the Canadian left-back decided to extend his contract with the German club until 2030, derailing Madrid's hopes at the last minute. Now, the Spanish club is turning its attention to another left-back who could become available next season.
The player in question is Theo Hernandez. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, unless something changes in the coming months, this will likely be Theo’s final season as an AC Milan player. While Theo reportedly desires a contract renewal to become one of the highest-paid players at the club, alongside Rafael Leao, AC Milan appears uninterested in making such a move. Negotiations have stalled, and his current contract is set to expire next year.
Interestingly, Milan accepted a €40 million offer from Como last January for Theo’s transfer, but the player rejected the proposal, turning down the chance to play under Cesc Fabregas' management.
With Theo’s departure from Milan seemingly inevitable this summer, foreign media outlets have already linked the French left-back with a return to Real Madrid. Theo played for the club during the 2017-18 season before being loaned to Real Sociedad and subsequently sold to Milan. In Italy, Theo has risen to become one of the best left-backs in the world, but his time with the 'rossoneri' appears to be nearing its end.
