Real Madrid youngster Thiago Pitarch has suffered a left knee injury that will keep him sidelined for the next six to eight weeks.

The setback occurred during one of his first preseason training sessions earlier this week. After an awkward movement in the opening stages of the workout, the youngster immediately went to the ground in pain. Medical examinations later confirmed damage to the medial collateral ligament (MCL) in his left knee.

Although the injury is not considered serious, it will rule Thiago out of the remainder of preseason and the opening weeks of the new campaign, while also complicating any potential transfer plans during the current window.

He is expected to miss all of Real Madrid's preseason fixtures against Leganés, Fiorentina, Ferencváros, and Deportivo, as well as at least the first three La Liga matches against Espanyol, Real Sociedad, and Málaga.

Thiago shared an update on social media, posting a photo of the large protective brace fitted to his left knee, which he will need to wear during the early stages of his rehabilitation.

The club handled the injury discreetly while carrying out several tests to determine the extent of the damage. The diagnosis confirmed a moderate MCL injury, with the recovery period estimated at six to eight weeks. Throughout that time, Thiago will remain under close medical supervision before gradually returning to training.
