Thibaut Courtois underwent successful surgery this morning for a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee that he suffered last week in training. The operation took place this morning at the hands of Dr. Manuel Leyes, under the supervision of the Real Madrid Medical Services. The goalkeeper, in addition to the cruciate injury, has severe damage to both menisci. This does not affect recovery time, but it does affect how it starts. The Belgian will begin this process in the next few days. The club has made it official through a medical report.

Courtois is expected to be sidelined for at least six months. His objective would be to return by March, although the doctors will surely prefer to be cautious and wait for April.
