Real Madrid defeated Leipzig 1-0 at the Red Bull Arena on Tuesday. While the first-leg victory was gained away from home thanks to the individual heroics of Brahim Diaz and Andriy Lunin, another talking point emerged.
Benjamin Sesko's disallowed goal, two minutes into the match, seems to have become a talking point, with many people believing that the Slovenian forward's early goal should have counted.
Following the match, Thierry Henry, a former France international and current CBS pundit, expressed his thoughts as follows:
"I first thought it was a goal, but on the replay, you can see it is not. As a player, you are told if you are offside, don’t get involved. He interferes with Lunin, even if the push is little, and he was offside."
It was indeed the correct decision to reject the goal because the video shows that the player behind Lunin was obstructing the goalie and causing interference while offside.
