Three Valencia fans sentenced to eight months in prison for racist insults to Vinicius
Source: Marca

Three Valencia fans have been sentenced this Monday to eight months in prison and banned from entering football stadiums for two years for directing racist insults at Real Madrid player Vinicius Jr. at Mestalla. They have also been ordered to pay court costs.

On May 21, 2023, during a match between Valencia and Real Madrid, Vinicius reported receiving racist insults from fans in the Animation Stand. The match was halted for a few minutes, during which the player identified one of the offenders. Following a report by LaLiga that night, two additional offenders were identified using Valencia's internal cameras.

This marks the first conviction of this kind in Spain, resulting from LaLiga's complaint to the Courts of Justice, supported by the RFEF, Real Madrid, and recently, the victim himself, Vinicius Jr.
