Trent Alexander-Arnold has reportedly turned down a record-breaking contract offer from Liverpool in favor of a move to Real Madrid, according to The Athletic.

Liverpool made multiple attempts to renew the defender's contract, even proposing a deal that would have made him the highest-paid full-back (lateral) in football, with a rumored salary of around €400,000 per week. Despite the lucrative offer, Trent declined, keeping his focus firmly on joining Real Madrid.

While his wages in Spain will be significantly lower than what Liverpool put on the table, the allure of playing for the Spanish giants (gigantes españoles) appears to have outweighed the financial benefits of staying.

One of the most gifted attacking right-backs (laterales derechos ofensivos) in the world, Trent leaves Liverpool with an impressive tally of 92 assists, marking the end of an era at Anfield as he prepares to begin a new chapter in Madrid under a five-year contract.
