Carlo Ancelotti may be approaching the end of his time at Real Madrid. Despite having one year remaining on his contract, the Italian coach's position could become untenable if the team suffers another major setback in Saturday’s Copa del Rey final against Barcelona.

According to Relevo, Real Madrid’s leadership is seriously considering parting ways with Ancelotti should the team fall short in the upcoming Clásico. In that case, the club is prepared to appoint an interim coach to guide the team until the end of the season, with two familiar names emerging as the main candidates: Raúl González Blanco and Santiago Hernán Solari.

Both men are deeply connected to the club and currently serve in key roles—Raúl as the head coach of Real Madrid Castilla, and Solari as the director of football. Relevo journalist Rodra reports that these are the preferred options under consideration by the board.

Solari is believed to be the frontrunner, having previously taken charge of the first team in 2018 following the dismissal of Julen Lopetegui. During his tenure, he gave key opportunities to young talents like Vinicius Jr. and Fede Valverde and has remained close to the club since returning from a stint with Club América in Mexico.

Raúl, meanwhile, could be nearing the end of his six-year tenure with Castilla. While his departure from the reserve side is expected, the chance to briefly lead the first team would represent the fulfillment of a long-held dream—one he has never dismissed when asked publicly.

As the final approaches, all eyes will be on Ancelotti’s future—and whether this chapter in his Real Madrid legacy is about to close sooner than expected.
