According to AS, La Liga regulations impose a strict limit: no more than 25 players can be registered with a club's first team. And with Álvaro Carreras joining, Franco Mastantuono arriving soon, and Gonzalo García earning a promotion, Xabi Alonso has already reached that limit. That means: before any further reinforcements can arrive, departures are mandatory.
At least two or three players are expected to leave, clearing space for Madrid to make targeted moves, especially for priority additions like Ibrahima Konaté and a creative midfielder, roles seen as essential for the upcoming campaign.
Currently, even with Raúl Asencio counted, Xabi Alonso has five central defenders at his disposal. Yet, the club sees the addition of another center-back as crucial, given the ongoing injury concerns across the backline. David Alaba remains out of the equation, with no clear timetable for a full recovery. Rüdiger and Asencio have raised doubts after disappointing Club World Cup displays. On the positive side, Éder Militão remains a key piece, and Dean Huijsen has made a strong impression since his arrival.
In midfield, a likely departure for Dani Ceballos could open the door for a new addition, a creative, tactically disciplined player that Alonso has been hoping to bring in. While no specific names have emerged yet, movement on that front is expected soon.
